I had a budget of 2500$CAD and ended up with this :

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Md86XH

I have two 60hz 1080p monitors but will upgrade soon for two 1440p monitors.

I do a lot of gaming (ARMA III, Witch III etc.) and a lot of multitasking.

I do a little bit of rendering.

Need advice if I should change some of the stuff or keep it as it is.

Spend less on the motherboard and if you don't plan on SLIing in the future get a 550W PSU from the same lineup (G2/GQ/GS, not G). Use the saved money to get a better cooler such as the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 or Noctua NH-D15(S)

Should go X99 for that budget on the CPU/motherboard, it's just better overall, aside from 5% less performance per Ghz

and a 1080 is pretty overkill for 1440p 60hz gaming, upgrade to single 4k or 1440p 144hz, or just save money and get an after market 480 or 1070

Also look into the Define S, it should be cheaper and it has basically the same features

Don't know what your storage requirements are but personally 1TB HDD's make me cringe. They are ususally the worst $/gb. If you're rendering and working with Video files you'll proabably want some more storage, and if you are doing it for work you may want to RAID your HDD's together. 2 x 2 or 3 TB HDD's in RAID 1 would give you back up and probably wouldn't break your budget. Just a thought

Isn't it 1440p 60hz? because you don't need a 1080 to max that out, it's not like you can game across just 2 displays really

Sorry, Didn't realize. in your original post you only had 1 x 1TB drive listed.

I'd still consider the RAID. RAID is your friend, it keeps you from going FML lol

RAID is totally not really ever worth it for a home PC

You don't think having a redundant drive with your data is worth it in a home PC?

It's just one of those might as well things, in addition you're gaming at 60hz, you can do 60hz gaming on most games with an i5 clocked at 3ghz, plus the X99 platform is going to be a little bit more feature rich, and should you ever sell your PC, it'll hold it's value better

And here, the 1070 FE even, is able to push over 60fps in all these DX11 games at 1440p Ultra, the 1080 like I said, is overkill, I'd invest more in your display rather than your GPU

It really isn't worth the time or trouble, the chances of a 240gb OS SSD failing are already pretty low, and you'd have your important data backed up anyways

Got to agree. I have a 3960X (hexcore). It's pretty great. Its not so much the gaming as it is the gaming + all the other stuff you can do without your pc getting bogged down. Like alt tabbing out of a game to start up a video on your seccondary monitor (which i also have and love to have on while i game, only way i catch up on movies I haven't seen) or to start up another game while you wait for your friends to get off their buts and join your multiplayer sessions lol.

Yes, I usually play games on my main monitor and watch movies on the other screen.

Like I mentioned, going on 1440p 144hz.

Then why not save money and go free-sync over G-sync? of course the RX 480 isn't as fast as the 1070/80, but that's more money saved for a similar experience, being higher frame rates at medium-high settings, although a good number of games are actually locked to 60fps

1440p 144hz IPS free-sync, not on the PC part picker for canada, it's $550 USD though, should end up around $700

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sqp323/acer-monitor-xf270hu

1440p 144hz IPS G-sync, $900 here

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/ttnG3C/acer-monitor-xb271hubmiprz

For some reason there's the same G-sync display at the same price as a free-sync display, but I guess it's in store only?

Canda pricing/availability is strange

Or do the ultimate set up, with massive 4k displays

I'm sticking with NVDIA and for the monitors, I just realized it was kinda expensive so I'll have to see.

Well why would you do that if you can get a similar experience from AMD for less?

Or hell for the price of the single 1440p 144hz IPS G-sync display, you could get TN displays, which I have the 1080p AOC one, and it's actually not bad considering it's TN, it's closer to VA I'd say than TN, lacks viewing angles of course, mostly on the Y axis

Anyways, then you end up with 2 144hz displays, which seems easier to pair from my quick testing running 1 60hz and 1 144hz, I had glitche, but one being 1440p and the other being 1080p

Or just buy 3 1080p 144hz displays and call it a day
