Looking for a new internet subscription.

It's just going to be me who'll be using the internet.

I want something stable for online gaming, how many megabits/s, ups & downs do you reckon I should have?

I work for an ISP and if you want a good smooth gaming experiencing then 15+ Mbps is what you will need for a single person to game on. When speaking with customers who are actively gaming we show them to be using anywhere between 10 and 12Mbps on average for the DL. Upload does not generally affecting gaming nearly as much. The rule of thumb we live by in the DOCSIS world is to properly support speeds, for every 10 down, you need alteast 1 up.

well.......20mb/s down would be the least I would recommend.

It depends on what they offer in your area. ISPs are localised by nature, so you have to see what companies are present in your area.

Chances are if you live in the US, Canada, or a country similar, you will only have access to one or maybe two choices thanks to your state-sanctioned oligopoly. Unless you have Google Fiber or something.

sounds like you think the US needs a little Bernie Sanders.......rip.Sanders campaign, it was a good run.

The people will prevail, don’t worry about that. It’ll just take time.

@starmurph, what country/province do you live in? We can gauge your options well if you supply that info.
