Quiet fans, SP-120 Quiet or NF-F12 (iPPC 2000 IP67)

Saiyan

Have a H100i GTX and the stock fans sound like a tornado even with my ATH-M50x's on. I've watched videos on both the SP120 and NF-F12 and it seems like they're pretty much at the same noise level, both being very quiet compared to the stock performance fans. I know the NF-F12 are a little more expensive than the SP120 quiet editions, but they are rated to be dust and waterproof so wasn't sure if you guys have had any personal experiences with either of these fans that would sway my decision.

Are you referring to the performance stock fans you get or the quiet edition. In the videos I saw it seemed the quiet editions were pretty near silent.

Have you just tried lowering your fan speeds?

Noctua will always beat Corsair in terms of performance and silence regarding these two fans. Now the last thing to consider would be whether or not you want to spend the extra ~$15 to get two Noctuas rather than the Corsairs.

I can't lower my fan speeds when my whole h100i gtx unit won't be detected by corsair link. I've tried using a different usb header and I've tried older versions but it still won't pick it up so full default speed (2400 RPM) is my only option.

Have you tried controlling the fans from the cpu_fan header instead?

Yes, but the fan control through my bios isn't the greatest. I can't just set numerical values for the RPM like I want to.

That's not how it usually works. It's usually done with percentage and it would be no different with Noctua fans.

That's a fan curve. If your motherboard is the z97 Gaming 5 in your sig, it should be very easy to set up your own fan curve.

Just set the fan speed to be lower at lower temps and approaching the highest speed your comfortable with that cools well enough at the highest temp. If you're not sure, just set the fan speed to 100% at the end of the graph.
