You should be able to do this quite easily. Leave them both connected. then when you want to change the sound output, right click on the volume icon in the bottom right corner of the screen on windows 10. Select playback devices. Select the sound system you want to use, and set default. All sound from your computer should now come through that device unless specified otherwise by another program.

Leave them connected both in which Sound Card jack? there is just 1 green jack for headphones/speakers

Why does it suck? it should provide identical sound quality to whatever you have on your motherboard.

I think he meant placement. I searched the case and the IO is in the top right facing up at an angle.......

So here is what I do. I have my headphones plugged into the back of my computer, and my speaker is plugged into my monitor using Displayport (HDMI audio works as well) as a passthrough (if you have a larger than 2.1 sound system speaker just swap the positioning of the speaker and headphone).

This allows me to have both plugged in at once. Now for me THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.  I refuse to go back to my taskbar, click on sound, and swap audio streams every time I want to switch. Some of the games I have instantly crash if you try to do this, and others are just annoying. Plus I'm lazy.

Thus I downloaded and set up a program called soundswitch. That combined with my naga mouse keybind allows me to instantly swap on the fly between headphones and speakers whenever I want just by clicking left with my scroll wheel.

Oh btw by definition pass through gpu audio is as good as it gets for speakers.

Well, since you have no drive bays on that chasis, the only other option I know of would be an audio splitter. It takes 1 outlet, and splits it into two outlets. you could get a short one, plug it into the back of your computer, and then take both of your components and plug them in. It will probably duplicate the sound simultaneously to both of them, but if you manually control the audio on the specific devices with physical controls (such as a volume dial) that shouldn't be an issue

You could also just get a USB headset, or a USB headset converter so you don't have to plug the two into the same jack.

I don't know a ton about this topic. some of these options may not be all that amazing. but you're being awful picky about what you need. I use a USB headset and it works fine so I've never encountered this issue before.
