Hi LTT!

I'm not sure if I'll find my answer here but i gotta try. I googled a lot and this is my final destination. My ps3 which has multiman jailbreak on it won't read my external hdd, does anyone know why?

Specifically it reads as pvd_usb000 (i think) after i go to PFS Drivers in the mmOS menu, since my external is NTFS format. When i try to enter it it just starts loading forever and i can't transfer games or anything. My usb works perfectly but its too small for a couple of games I'm trying to transfer. Does anyone know what to do?

Thanks in advance!

PS3 doesn't natively read NTFS.

If the jailbreak/hack on it was supposed to enable that ability, then who knows. Sounds sketchy to me.

Do you think it'd read it if was FAT32, and could it transfer a 34 gb game like that ?

depends on how the game is stored. If it's 1 34GB file then it won't work with FAT32 as that can't handle files bigger then 4GB.

I have unfortunately no experience in jailbreaking a PS3. Thought about it a few times but never tried it because there's always something about a firmware you need or something and it just sounded to complicated. If you get it working i'd love to know how you did it and see if i can do it myself. If this is all allowed on the forum of course. I dunno if it is.

I have no signature

It can read fat32, yes.  If the system software was written so that it can play PS3 games on an external drive, then I would also assume that it could transfer the game. If you've ever looked at a PS3 hard drive on a computer, you'd see that it has many many partitions. It's possible that it would partition an external drive so that it can store a game larger than 4GB.  But it's also possible that it won't. The only way to know is to try it. I'm betting against it, though. I would just upgrade the internal drive to something larger. It's beyond easy.

upgrading the internal drive is no issue, i just need a way to make it read my external hdd so i can transfer games from it to the ps3 hdd, so i can play games on the ps3 then (the ps3 is jailbroken ofc)

NTFS is Microsoft's proprietary file system.  It's unlikely Sony and Microsoft will ever strike a deal to implement compatibility.

The only option is fat32.   Unless PS3 can read exFat now... but I doubt it.
