PhysX card to pair up with new 1080?

Gerr

I know PhysX is dying, but once I get a 1080 in early August, I will start to play Witcher 3 and then it's DLC, which support it.  I have a spare 750 OC 1GB laying around collecting dust and wonder if that would be any good as a dedicated PhysX card alongside a 1080?  I know a 1080 can do both, but since my monitor is 1440P @ 144Hz, I want to max out the FPS at ultra settings and offloading the PhysX calculations to a 2nd card should help, in theory.  However, I am worried that the 750 OC is just too slow for that and won't be able to keep up with a 1080 and the combo could slow everything down.  I know, test it and report back, but just looking for some initial thoughts.

I might upgrade my bedroom system's GPU from a GTX 960 4GB to a RX 480 8GB around the same time, so if I did that, I would have a GTX 960 4GB I could use as a dedicated PhysX card instead of the slower 750 OC.

Weak Physx card + Powerful GPU = weak performance. It's best to let the 1080 alone rather than have the 750 "help" it. Same thing with the 960.

Don't waste your money on a PhysX GPU. The Witcher 3 doesn't support it.

Even my 980 doesn't do any good as a dedicated physics card to the other 980

Well another GTX 1080 would be fine. With SLI xD

As you can see, noone here is recommending you to get 2nd card just for physX, so just don't do it ;)
