My cousin is building a pc for 750 pounds and im not asking about the gpu because a gtx 1070 is best for him. What i am asking is should he get a i5 4690k or i7 4790k he wants to play high demanding cpu and gpu games like GTA V and Just cause 3 at max settings.

Well in terms of GTA, something like a i7 will help, if you want to save money though go for a xeon 1231v3 or just go for a Non K CPU

Honestly for gta v, even at stock my 4690k is capable of steady 60 fps. If he's targeting a higher framerate, I'd revoked the i7

people need to realize that modern games dont need 8 threads of cpu processing

Any i5 quad core should be more than capable for gaming

What about getting an RX 480 for him? It's way cheaper and will run GTA perfectly. I'm even an nvidia 'fanboy,' but I cant help but gaze at the 480.

I got gta v and i can confirm that it does bottleneck because msi afterburner says its always 95-100% usage and the framerate jumps from 25-80 fps

From the tests I've seen, an i7 is no better than an i5 for GTA V.

That video is all i7s. It doesn't show, for example, an i5-6600K vs an i7-6700K or an i5-4690K vs an i7-4790K
