Hi, I am trying to get into PC Gaming. My PC has Intel HD Graphics so I want to buy a graphics card. However, my mother keeps thinking that if I take the side panel off of my PC and install a graphics card my PC will blow up. So, I am stuck. I clearly dont have a credit card to buy a graphics card, so I am basically screwed unless my Mom finally goes through with my plan. What should I do? I've explained everything to her and she still thinks my PC will catch on fire. I know this probably doesnt belong here, but I need help. (My family is strapped in terms of money so if "my PC breaks" we cant replace it).

1. I mean... Maybe if you have a shitty PSU lol.

Tell her that a strange 17 year old on the internet told you it'll be fine.

Satire aside just tell her that you've watched a bunch of videos, and you've done your research (provide her with some of said research), and that she's welcome to watch you do it so she can make sure you don't mess up (even though you'll know what you're doing). Also worth mentioning that there is a massive online community of thousands of people ready and willing to help you with any issues you occur along the way.

One last thing that I use to explain to technically illiterate people when they think computers are complex is to tell her that computers are like legos, but even simpler, everything is shaped a certain way, and can only go in one place, its difficult to mess up.
