My PC to my receiver for audio - TOSLINK or P2/RCA cables?

Back when i had my Denon DRA-37, i would connect my PC to my receiver via a P2/RCA, since it was a simple receiver.

But not i bought a more complete and older receiver, a Denon AVR-1602 and this one has an optical audio input, and my motherboard has an optical outup.

I was wondering, what cable should i use to connect these two together? Optical Toslink or a more simple P2/RCA converter cable?

Optical. It allows the receiver to do the audio to digital converting job (which is usually better then the motherboard's DAC), and that's usually better. This will fo it.

If your mobo has a toslink, use that. There the same quality, one is optical one is rca. Use what ever is more convenient.

Thanks a lot guys!

As for the cable, the thickness of the Toslink cable matters much? I'm not from US and i'm seeing some quite thin cables in the stores here, but there are more thick cables that cost a little more, but nothing too crazy.
