Display Driver 368.39 for my GTX 1070 constantly crashing upon launching games

Telling ya, wipe those drivers. Most of the time problems like this are solved by a fresh install.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Use DDU to uninstall your drivers and try a fresh install. It looks like everything is fine in Afterburner.

Yeah I'll give this a try, I was looking at DDU fresh installs on a reddit thread but it said you need to restart your computer in safe mode and a bunch of other stuff, can I just uninstall the drivers then re-install without rebooting in safe mode or is that required?

so here's an interesting development, I had a friend of mine download the 368.39 driver on his i5/960 build (yes the bottleneck is real) and start up BF4, almost immediately he got the Display Driver crash notification and his game stopped running. I went ahead over to my AMD/GTX 960 setup with the 368.39 driver, and I was able to play BF4 (the game that crashes my drivers the fastest on my 1070) for about 2 hours or so, with no notifications or interruptions, when on my 1070 build it crashes almost immediately. hmmm

 

all I can say is there's something going on with Intel/GTX builds and this driver, because the only cases of this I've seen have been Intel/GTX and not AMD/GTX.

I've got a Intel/GTX build, no issues. Most of my friends have the same, no issues. 

 

Use DDU and re install the drivers. Or make sure you don't have a Windows update trying to go through. That's happened to me a few times over the last few months.

Currently the gtx 1070 is  working fine however I can't launch the Witcher 3 at all. Just insta crashes on launch. Same with GTA 5. Overclocking isn't an issue since the problem occurs default and overclocked. FYI I wouldn't overclock higher than +140 core +650 mem. That's the max overclock I got without artifacts. Had +140 +700 running fine but had 1 artifact at +700 mem.

 

It appears it works for some games and crashes others. Some games work fine. Just these 2 I want to play are crashing. Cards a beast though.

 

 

Annnnnd won't launch elder scrolls online either. It's these 2 new drivers not the card. Tried the gtx 970 with the newest drivers, same issue. Rolled back to previous, no issues.

 

Now that I have a gtx 1070 I can't roll back. So we gotta wait.

On GTA5 i found that i had to turn tessellation down to normal to make it work. I also did same for ESO but it still will crash. I cant play The Division long and i get a ctd but no driver stopped responding.

Try the latest 368.95 beta driver that fixed latency issue on 1070/1080? Make sure to use DDU.
