Hi,

Once a year, my Dad's laptop (issued by his work) gets reset (not sure if he asks for it or if his company does it to all of their PCs) for the reason of getting rid of all excess Windows and program crap. So basically like a refresh and to make it run faster. I want to know if that will give a performance boost (I don't care if it is small) and will clear up a good amount of space on my disks. I have a 250gb. Samsung 850 Evo storing OS and important applications and games, a 300gb. Seagate Scorpio Black SSHD storing all of my files, rest of my applications and games. And finally, a 1tb Seagate barracuda that backups my PC daily and stores large video clips and recordings.

My SSD is running out of capacity, and my SSHD is on its way to be also. I don't mind the hassle of resetting and copying my files back on, but I am not sure of the best way to tackle this job. I have a list of all of the Drivers, Games, and Programs I want to keep, and can dedicate some time to filter through my vast amount of files. But what is the best way to backup my files? I'm thinking of putting the files I want to keep on the 1tb HDD (Which is not halfway full yet) and then copying it back onto my SSHD. Or should I put my stuff on an external drive and wipe all of the drives. Would using a program like Ninite be useful for installing my programs automagically? Thanks!!

1) move files to HDD or external drives/USBs

2) unplug HDD

3) with a windows 10 USB drive, install windows on the SSD

4) install your programs and windows updates (chances are you wont need to install any drivers, windows now does it for you)

5) plug HDD back in and move your files back
