Help getting FX9590 stable!

Hi im having hard time to get 9590 running stable.

Motherboard: Aura 970 (I know 150w thing) but 9590 is still listed as supported by Asus

PSU: Corsair CX750M

that is a very sad combination of CPU, motherboard and PSU...

are you trying to run it stable overclocked or at "stock"

try lowering below the "stock" and closer to the 8350

maybe return the chip saying it can't run stable at "stock" and replace at least the motherboard?

You said it yourself, motherboard (970 chipset) isn't going to cut it. You need a 990FX chipset motherboard to keep that hot baby stable.

Possible reasons:
1. PSU - it's not a particularly good unit, and definitely not for these CPUs.

2. The motherboard might still be an issue, despite ASUS listing the 9590 as a supported CPU.

3. The temperatures may be too high.

 

Try downclocking and downvolting. What's your GPU?

Yeah I know its not the best combo but yeah I want it to run so close as possible to 5.0

Temps are good because im on water. GPU is strix970

it's stock is at 4.7GHz, I'd be happy if it can run at that with the setup you're having... don't push things, because eventually they will burst, and who knows maybe it'll be your children home alone when the room engulfs with flames

Well, the VRM temps are another thing. Try downclocking and downvolting the CPU to the FX-8320 or FX-8350 values. If that doesn't help, try connecting another PSU to test whether that's the issue, if not, then it's the mobo in my opinion.

Overclock is probably a no-go, but stock should be doable, at least on that PSU. Even if the PSU can only output 2/3, it should feed the stock 9590.

 

The mobo may be another matter. Try undervolting maybe?

I see two parts that could burn or explode... o3o (dude sell the FX-9590 & PSU & buy a new FX-8370 & PSU, unless you can decrease the FX-9590s speed to the stock speeds of the FX-8370 which is 4.0GHz + 4.3GHz turbo...)

You need a top end 990FX motherboard such as Formula Z or those Gigabyte ones...

Ok just got aura with nice leds on it an d got 9590 almost for free. So no possible way of getting it stable with my current setup?

Under-clock it to 4.0GHz with 4.3/4.5GHz turbo should help?

Only the older corsair cx750m is bad with the green label. The newer grey labeled cx750m is a lot better, don't know what they OP has though.

You want to use the BIOS and reduce the CPUs clock speeds until it remains stable!

Then downclocking and downvolting until you switch the motherboard should solve the issue.

Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z is is 140w rated too but will it be better still?

The main issue is not heat on the CPU the main problem is the VRM heat and your board getting fried, you need to place a small fan over the VRMs and maybe down lock the CPU to 4GHz base clock the 4.5GHz on turbo!!!

It is MUCH better, but it's too expensive. Not worth investing that much money into an old platform.
Downclock the CPU to 4,0 gHz and downvolt it to 1,38V. Should work. If not, leave it at 1.4V and wait for Zen/Kaby Lake release.
