15Mb down, 1up speeds. Never had a problem until about a month ago, using a netgear wrn2000 n300, yes it's old but has been not worked. But I noticed it was resetting on it's own which seemed like the cause of the disconnects. I just replaced it with a new but slower belkin n150 router thinking the old one was just malfunctioning. Now I can't even stay on teamspeak for longer than 30 seconds without disconnects and before it was my entire internet cutting out from the random router resets. Now I stay connected but speeds drop so low it's near unusable. Any ideas what could cause this kind of issue? I can't imagine it's solely router speed. 150Mb is well beyond that of my internet speeds and well beyond the transfer rate of gaming and teamspeak.

It doesn't seem to be an modem issue or a service issue. I've already had them replace the modem and they have tested the line with no problems. Being that I changed routers and the problem is much worse it's the only thing I can assume is really wrong, but why?

you missed a vital step there:

first check if the problem goes away by plugging your device of choice directly into the modem.

also, rated speeds on wifi devices are a joke, i have a "300Mbps" wireless router that cant even push more than 50Mbps on its wired (100Mbps) ports, let alone perform good on wifi.

Probablem is I have no way of connecting directly as I moved and I don't have a connection point for my modem that is near my pc.

well, how hard would it be to grab your pc, a montor, a keyboard, and a mouse and just set up shop next to the modem to test for 10-30 minutes?

Are there a lot of networks around? Im thinking interference.

Well I was under time constraint, store was closing and I didn't want to spend my saturday night without internet so I was in a rush. I returned the cheapo 150n for a AC 1200. Ill have to do some testing. I did however do this to determine it wasn't the internet itself by connecting the pc to the modem. Impressive work don't you think? See the problem is my apartment was a storage place renovated so it's entirely made of cement and therefor hard to get lines running through. In other words very few outlets, very few cable lines.

That isn't the problem. There is only 3 other places of living around within wifi range only one of which I see in my wifi connections on a regular basis.

Not so sure I did. The appartment and wireless router is within basically direct line of sight with at worst a wooden door in the way and about 10 feet away. It's not going through walls directly and with the ac1200 belkin router I have gotten I haven't had issues yet. But I hate to have the issue fixed because I threw money at it.

It just the point. Cement is not wireless friendly. Plus add in the fact you live in an apartment. I wonder how many wireless networks are near. Keep in mind 2.4Ghz is heavily used. In a crowded situation when you run out of channels, you can get issues like this. Also, newer wireless standards tend to have better range. My sister had an N150 router and it barley covered half the house. She goes to a wireless AC 1750 router and how the whole house is covered and you can even just barley get connected at the neighbors house across the street. Im gald you got it working. How well does the 5Ghz band work?

I live in an appartment with roughly 3 other appartments within a mile. I am using a 2.4ghz band because when I got my computer I didn't buy a wifi card with a 5ghz band. So far I haven't had a single drop in connection after 4 hours which really angers me because other than the fact it's faster there really shouldn't be a difference at a 8 foot range like it was. Yes it's surrounded by cement but it's not directly blocking it.
