Just a Quick Question i was wondering about, how does mobile GPU's compare to Desktop GPU, especially GTX660 vs. GTX660m?

I have a GTX660m in my laptop and it seems to be lacking alot compared to the desktop equivalent from what i have seen and experienced :)

GPU: MSI GTX 770 gaming || CPU: Intel 4670k @ 4.4Ghz || RAM: 4x4GB 1600mhz Corsair vengeance pro || MOBO: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming || CPU cooler: Corsair H105 || PSU: Corsair RM650 || SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, Crucial M4 128GB || Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 || Monitor: ASUS PA238Q

The desktop version is more powerful than the mobile version. It has to do with the constraints that NVIDIA and AMD have to work around.

"It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brain falls out." - Carl Sagan.

"I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you" - Edward I. Koch

The mobile GPUs are not at all related to the desktop cards that use the same number.  The number only notes their relative position in the lineup.  They are all based on the Kepler architecture together (Actually that's not even true lol), but there is no special relationship between the GT 650M and the GTX 650 for example.  The GT 650M is an underclocked GT 640 sometimes with GDDR5.  The GTX 680M is an underclocked GTX 670.  The GTX 670M isn't even part of the 600 series in reality, it is based on the Fermi architecture 500 series.  It's basically the GTX 580M renamed, if I remember correctly.  The "desktop equivalent" of the GTX 660M isn't the GTX 660, it's the GT 640 still (but less underclocked than the 650M, and always with GDDR5).

In short, they don't name the GTX 670M because it is specially related to the GTX 670.  They name it that because it is next weakest card after the GTX 680M.
