A good AIR CPU-Cooler for the AMD FX 8350 ?

Xiauj

Hi,

I was wondering, what's a good, cheap but also quiet(er) AIR CPU-Cooler for the AMD FX 8350 CPU..?

I'm looking to upgrade this cooler for my current AMD Rig which I've had for 3 years for the first time :D ! (As well as some other components like the Case, GPU, PSU and maybe case fans)

I've heard that some of the Cryorig and Noctua ones are quite good but need to find one.

I live in the UK (£/GBP).

Thanks ~ Xiauj

I use a Cryorig Water Cooler and it is very good. I could only assume that the air cooled ones are even better as there's less to go wrong!

That looks like a good one. I'd say just get anything with a lot of heft to it, and a large profile fan.

I got this guy for like $10, and it's served me pretty well. Handles the OC on my FX-6300 with a ton of room to spare. It is marketed as passive though, so fans are separate. Could be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it.

Cpu coolers aren't as cheap in the UK as in the US (like all pc parts), so you can't really get anything decent until you spend above £30 ($43) for a Hyper 212 Evo. I wouldn't really recommend the H55 I use for my OC'd 8320 because I only acheive low temps because I live in England and never turn the heating on.

$43 for a Hyper 212 is about right here though. My hyper TX 3 was $30. Where do you shop online? I'll take a gander.

Or you could extend the tubing and put the radiator outside :P

Where would you recommend to look ^ ?

Would you say the 212 Evo is reliable, quiet and compatible with AMD FX 8350 ?

Ah. Same concept though. You want your PC to run quiet, so getting a larger cooler that's able to passively dissipate heat well will allow you to run lower fan speeds.

its a great cooler it'll hold up pretty well and if you shell out for some nice fans to go with it it should be pretty near silent too, in the uk try amazon, newegg, scan and if you're lucky there might be something nice on ebay

Yeah I won't be OCing, I entirely forgot to mention that and I apologise! -_-

I'll get the Hyper 212 Evo and finally there's two more things:

  • What type of case fans would you recommend? (Reason I ask is because, I >might< be wanting to "Move My PC" into a new case and so, I might need some case fans, not sure yet!)
  • Are AIR CPU-Coolers easy to replace..? (I know I'm probably better off watching YT-Videos but was wondering it's easy or hard if anyone has done so before)

The best fans are noctua nf-f12s, i personally use corsair af120s and I would go for coolermaster, noctua or corsair but case fans dont have a massive impact on performance so dont worry about it too much, and yes they're very easy i you know what you're doing it'll take you about 15 minutes maximum

Well, it's my first time changing a bunch of hardware components, just don't wanna lose anything valuable.

Do you reckon Noctua would be the better choice?

I wanna go for the Noctua NH-D15 AIR CPU-Cooler but it's a bit expensive:

OK so I realise that moving all your pc components for the first time is probably pretty daunting but you really have nothing to worry about as long as you have components from reputable companies nothings going to blow up on you, case fans honestly have very very little impact on your overall performance, I'm pretty sure Linus has done a video on this, if you've got the extra cash then noctua is the way to go but don't waste your money on it if you'd rather save it for other things. I'm running an FX-8350 as well and I ran it on a stock cooler for at least a month with corsair af120s and whilst it was very noisy the perfomance was fine as was my GPU, motherboard and all of my other delicate components so all I would say when buying fans is to make sure you don't get dodgy ones and you can't really go wrong

This is what I've got thus far:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/6qrbvV

The CPU and Motherboard is what I have at the moment.

The rest is what I want to upgrade TO.

Trying to choose a nice looking case but the problem is, my motherboard "does not support Onboard USB 3.0 Headers"... :( If only I could make it so it does... :(
