Go to solution Solved by Alexcalibur,

Get the 480. It has more VRAM than the 970 and will preform better in games

I saw some benchmark for the rx 480 but i still don't know i go to the rx 480 or the gtx 970 ?

970 is so yesterday... the 390 and 290 beat it for the same price...

the 480 is not even tomorrow... or the day after tomorrow.... plus half the price...

If your considering purchasing either one of these i would wait till the 480's benchmarks are out by 3rd parties i dont think the nda has been lifted yet.

Based on the information we currently have about the RX 480, I think that unless someone is planning to buy a Fury X, a 980 ti, a GTX 1070, or a GTX 1080, or unless they're looking to spend less than $200, the answer if RX 480. Everything else is likely to become obsolete as a new-card purchase once the RX 480 releases.

Based on the limited amount we do know, it seems safe to say that the RX 480 is both cheaper and faster than the GTX 970. But I'd absolutely recommend waiting to see independent benchmarks before doing anything drastic.

Better VRAM =/= better graphics, I should have stated but those were two different statements. The RX480's chip itself is faster than the 970s, and it also has more VRAM

not true. More VRAM does not always mean better graphics.

performance is also determined by core clocks, memory clocks, shader units, memory bandwidth, etc

I think the only benchmarks available for the RX 480 are the ones AMD showed us. You may have read about them on different sites, but independent reviewers have not posted their own yet.

We've synthetics from independent reviewers, but synthetics dont tell us anything about gaming performance.

Why would you buy the 970 to get worse performance and 1.5x more in cost?

You want to spend more money for worse performance?

970 is crap value at this point. the RX 480 is supposed to perform better than the 980 for 200$.

Like I said with the 1080: Let's not spread this info until it's confirmed in non-synthetic benchmarks by reliable 3rd party reviewers. Same with the RX 480 (which I desperately hope will be fucking awesome)
