blue is clicky and tactile, red is the opposite of blue, brown is in the middle of those two

Switch types don't make much of a difference to productivity work outside of typing.

For gaming, you want linear switches (usually red switches) for fast repeated presses and an easier time holding down keys.

So, getting brown mechanical switches isn't gonna be a bad choice.

I went twith the browns on a G710+ and i kinda wish i would have tried the G710 with the blues first as they have a more satisfying click. The browns feel like Blues but sound like reads. I highly suggest you put your fingers one the different key switch types before spending any money. If dont you live near a store that you can try all 4 switch types at try this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/281841595882?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

Browns are in my opinion a bit better than Reds I've used both for about 30 min so you can't call me an expert but I prefer a tactical feedback.

I have blue's myself but if I were to choose again I would have gone with the browns, the blue's are very loud

Reds and browns are probably "safer" choices for someone who doesn't have fully-formed opinions about mechanical keys. MX Blues are my personal favorites, but they seem to generate more polarized opinions than the rest. They're possibly more of an acquired taste.

This is probably the best way to make an educated choice if you can't find any other way to test keys in person. Sucks to have to spend $10 for something like this, but it's probably better than making a blind guess on an expensive mechanical keyboard.
