Minecraft Java Exception Help!

Hi guys,

 

I'm trying to join a LAN world I am running using the Minecraft Server JAR. I have set it up properly since I can connect on my own desktop.

 

However it doesn't connect on my laptop and says this....

 

 

Any way to fix this?

 

The laptop has an Ethernet cable plugged in, just like the host computer and they are both on the same network.

Is the Minecraft server allowed through the firewall?

It's only inside a local network. I don't need to port forward.

I put the IP address as my internal IPv4 address of the computer.

 

For my host computer it's 10.0.1.24 on port 5000 (idk I just randomly decided upon a number)

Well I don't think you can use any port. You have to use the correct port. Which is 25565

Lol. Everybody says the default  port is stupid and I've used other ports before with no problem. Like E.g. Port 10000 always worked for me except this time I also tried that and it didn't work.

is your pc connected via ethernet? reinstall your server

That's only if you're going to open the server to the public. Doing it locally on a LAN wouldn't do any harm.

I know. Using the latest new 1.10 update . With polar bears and stuff.

 

AND somehow it works after restarting my laptop.......
