What are the typical weight of 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U servers, if possible a uATX and ATX too, if they more or less have the same components?

I am looking for a "portable" workstation. Laptops just dont have enough memory or storages for what I am working.
uATX may also have the same memory problem as they usually just 4 DIMMs.
Looking for at least 64GB, 4x16GB, at the moment and upgrade to 128+ within a year.
Will either have 5 to 9 SSDs. 1 as OS and the rest as raid to speed up IO. I know I should just get a PCIe NVM but I will need the PCIe for Quadro's.
I will be ssh or vnc into the system so monitor will not be needed.

A server is not what you are looking for if you want portable. They are not designed for travel (unless they are something like a dell r server, they are meant for pretty much anything) They generally weigh upwards of 30 pounds.

My native language is C++

One reason for a "portable" server is because they have pelican cases for them while desktop need to be custom made.

They do make server chasis meant to fit standard atx components.

Servers are going to be really heavy, especially with multiple redundant psus, and a full eatx board if not larger, and make sure to secure everything for travel as heatsinks, and pcie cards can break when the case is jostled.

There are laptops with 64Gb ram like this dell which also has a 512Gb Pcie NVME drive, and is less then 8lbs. $3500 though.

What exactly do you need a portable server for? Is accessing the server through a remote desktop while it sits in a static location not possible.

Yeah, but most if not all ATX have 8 DIMMs so the max will be 128GB of RAM. I may not fill them all at the beginning since budget but within a year or so I want to have more than 128+GB. Data crunching take so much memory. Right now just processing about 1/4 of the dataset take like 40GB.

I think it will be cheaper if I buy the cheapest than upgrade myself.

I will be using it for data crunching. I sometime need to transfer new data to the system and get the old data out. It would be faster if is on site but maybe I can do it overnight. Also remote manage may be a hassle.

I remember my empty 4U Supermicro 24 bay chassis being 40 pounds empty. Adding stuff to it would increase the weight by quite a bit. Do note that servers also feature multiple PSUs...you're going to break your back trying to pick up on fully loaded (At least you have SSDs though...hard drives would kill you due to weight).

Well I think I will only need to move it four times a year. Home to car, car to away, away to car, and car to home. Also I have a trolley.

Ah, that's not so bad then. I usually recommend SuperMicro because their server chassis are pretty nice. A Norco one could also do the job.

They do make 32gb, and 64Gb ddr4 dimms, pretty expensive though, and most likely only ecc.

There about 50lbs for a 1/2u and a bit more for a 4u. You can put 64gb or ram in a laptop.

If your gonna buy a server might as well go dell/hp if your buying new. Get a r730 or precision 7910 and go to town. Dual 2 slot gpu's, 3 half height slots, 12 drives, 24dimm slots, dual lga 2011-3, dual psu.
