gpu memory usage 2200MB(msi afterburner)

ram usage was 5381 MB on msi afterburner, task manager showed that bf4 was using about 2.5GB of ram

pagefile usage was ~7400MB   ... sooo.. when i turned off pagefile, my windows freaked out, shut all programs because i ran out of ram. currently i have 2 4GB sticks. should i just buy 16 or 32 Gb of ram and problem fixed?

A usual issue of Battlefield 4, the memory leaking. 16GB is fine, haven't heard of anybody having issues with 16GB, 32GB is overkill

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X PBO GPU: Asus Strix RTX 3090 OC Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600Mhz CL17

CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i Capillex Storage: Samsung 980 Pro and 970 Evo 1TB Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Crucial MX300 525GB WD Black 2TB PSU: Corsair HX1000 Case: Corsair 500D SE RGB 6x LL120

Don't turn off the page file. There's no reason to. If your RAM usage was 5381MB plus 2.5GB then yes, buy some more RAM.

what the heck is the page file?

Pagefile is a file in your c:/. Windows stores ram crap inside for some reason. (forgot the reason) Those pagefile files are usually just as big as your total amount of ram. No clue as why he turned it off, and I am even more suprised he got suprised that windows became unstable.

thats windows utilizing hard drive space as a last resort ram. you can turn it off, but it's not really recommended. doesn't itself make OS unstable, only if you run out of ram

Oh well, never heard of 24GB RAM before. On a workstation 64GB or even 128GB RAM are often seen

thats because i have an older one with the triple channel memory thing. the CPUs are Xeon X5650s old and dirt cheap. 2 of them have the power of a single i7 5960x

Sounds decent, old Xeons are awsome for such builds:)

I thought about such a rig, but getting a dual CPU mobo is either expensive as hell or just not possible because of the sockets, maybe in the future :)

me too but when i went to my favorite used pc parts store i saw a supermicro dual socket 1366 board for just $25 i knew this build was going to come true! the downside is i think the DIMM slots are loose or something because sometimes i get memory related beep codes when i turn on the machine...

I will keep looking around, if I get an oportunity I will accept the challenge :) Hm, that´s bad, but as long as it works it´s fine

Yeah the issue is just a bit annoying how i have to open my case and push on all the dimms to stop the beeping then in a week or 2 it happens again and rinse and repeat
