hey i am going to upgrade my gtx 960 to the new gtx 1080. Can i use the gtx 960 as a dedicated physx card? and do i need to upgrade my power supply because i now have 550w?

Yes you could you just need the extra PCIe port. if you plan to add a physx card then yes but if you are just upgrading to the 1080 (no 960 physx) then you should be able to pull it off.

 

I have an Anet A8 as my project printer and a i3 MK3 for when I want things to work. 

 

I extrude my own filament and haven't saved a penny yet.

The PSU will be easily enough for the GPU.

No you can't you need 2 1080's if you want to do that.
