Best Air Cooler under 140mm (Height)

8-Bit Ninja

So my brother wants a new cooler to replace his stock amd 7870k (I think) cooler. Preferably under £30ish though i'm sure he'd go up to £40 if there was a large difference. I've agreed to overclock his apu for him, so honestly cooling over noise.

Cryorig H5 Ultimate or the H7

The H5 is 36.49 pounds and the H7 is 27.49 pounds

Let's agree to disagree

Both are too tall.

The Core 1100 allows for 148mm of clearance.

Katana 4 is good: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scythe-SCKTN-4000-Katana-CPU-cooler/dp/B007Q4XSDE/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1465577970&sr=8-9&keywords=scythe+heatsink

I would go for the Noctua L9i. It's only 37mm tall.

Thanks for the correction. I was still thinking of 140mm for some reason.

Two nice LP coolers are the Prolimatech Samuel 17 and the Silverstone AR06.  For overclocking of the two I'd suggest the Samuel 17 with a good 140 mm fan that has 120 mm mounting holes.

It really does vary.  e.g. The Zalman T1 Plus states that it accepts coolers up to 140 mm in height.  It will not fit an 212 EVO, but an H7 will just fit.
