I'm trying to look for a gpu that is below $200 but still performs pretty well at 1080p, any suggestions?

 I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 MT with an i5 3450 processor

Well if you need something now, the GTX 750Ti, or GTX 950 are good for that. Or if you have the time to wait, try to get the RX 480 as it seems very promising.

If you ask that question in 3 weeks you will get a card that maxes out or comes close to every game out today in 1080p for $200.

That said, you should check whether your computer has a) a PCI express connector and b) a 6-pin GPU plug in your power supply, or at least two molex (they're rectangularish with 4 pins) that you could run off of with an adapter.

Also check the brand / specifications of the computer's power supply to make sure it will be able to take the 100 watts or so that the card will consume.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Computer having a hard time powering on? Troubleshoot it with this guide. (Currently looking for suggestions to update it into the context of <current year> and make it its own thread)

Motherboards are required to have a pcie, there is a minimum they can do.

It is dell, just make sure it is at least a 350w PSU and has a 6 pin connector. If we can get a model number, thanks. Though, a lot if Dells have somewhat decent PSUs if I remember.

That much I didn't know. Cheers.

If the PSU in the Dell is a Delta, it's at least very good. Delta makes some killer OEM power supplies.

I'm planning to get a 550w power supply, and yes it has 3 PCIe slots, one x16, X1 and x16(4wired). I might have to move my wireless card as it might get in the way of the GPU.

Not required.
I have several Dell pre-builts without PCI slots...

However I am fairly sure that it's nearly impossible to find a motherboard made in the last 10 years without one

My guess is those aren't compliant with the ATX specification.

Get this one.

Don't bother with the cheaper ones, they're pretty bad. At least this one won't kill your components (although I wouldn't put a high-end system on it).

RX 480 is rumored to be doing almost 15K in 3DMark 11, compare that to my old GTX 580 which was a very high end GPU in 2010, it only barely get's 8K overclocked...

for 200 the RX 480 is a dream come true for some people including myself, very good price, mega performance at 1080P.
