Get one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEPAI-LP2020A-mini-Digital-T-Amp/dp/B008S464VE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380413883&sr=8-2&keywords=t+amp

And a pair of bookshelf speakers for kick ass bass. yes you will miss 7.1 unfortunately. But it's worth it.

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

Razer Kraken's are pretty good. You may be able to pick up the 7.1 version if on sale.

K, then those same headphones, plus the Zalman clip on other peeps recommended, plus a Lepai amp to run those passive speakers.

Alternatively, the only other two closed headphones I've heard good things about are this Panasonic and this Monoprice. I don't know how bassy they are.

I think I am going to use a setup like this:

3.5mm our of monitor to 3.5mm splitter, one to my current headphones, the other to the lepai amp then to the speaker.

And just to clarify the AMP will work in the UK?

In my experience, Monitor audio is pretty shoddy (lots of static, crackles, and pops). If yours is good, however, then that ghettup would work fine.

I think if you buy it from a UK store (Amazon.co.uk as opposed to .com) it should come with a UK power supply. If it doesn't, you can always get a cheap power supply locally or a US to UK adapter.
