The X79 platform should be compatible with the 4960X. If you want to be sure go to the manufactures website of the motherboard and verify the BIOS version with the version installed on the motherboard. If they match or if the motherboards version is higher then you're good to go. (In the CPU compatibility list.)

Yes it should work as they both are the same socket.
