I have LogMeIn Hamachi and am curious how it works. Doesn't it work by creating a virtual lan-party ish thing? (So instead of port forwarding i just click broadcast to LAN and all is well, as long as the porson/persons I want to play with are on my Hamachi server)

Essentially yes, it ports a virtual lan over the internet connected only to ips added to this lan network.

Edit: Of course the ips it connects to also need the client to function obviously

So if im trying to play Sven Co-Op with a friend in a different state (#USA) I can just click broadcast to LAN and then he can go to the LAN section and my thing should be there?

Hamachi is old and compleate shit IMO. it killed my internet connection every time i used it so i would say avoid at all costs but yes thats basically how it works

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

If his firewall or your's doesn't block the connection and he is added to your network, yes.

Well so far thats the only thing I can find that works to play games with my friends. (My ISP doesn't like port forwarding I think). If you have something easier and better let me know

Yeah it used to be horrible, now it's fine assuming things like router firewalls or other security doesn't botch the connection
