Just looked up the prices and the 1070 on launch will be £400. The card I am edging towards is £240. The prices of 970s and 80s will drop because the new 1000 series are coming out, and a large chunk of people don't want their 900 series anymore...

Hi guys, I'm new to this whole topic thing...

Anyway, I'd like to ask what GPU should I get? I'm going for a budget build with an i5, 16gb of ram, and a 970. Which is the best 970 I should get? Currently I'm looking at gigabyte's 970 G1 GAMING, but there is also the "gigabyte GTX 970 graphics card" which looks identical but is £40 less. Which one? If not one of those two, any other suggestions?

Wait a while for the RX 480 benchmarks. Chances are it's as good or better for somewhere near $100 less. It should be released at the end of the month I think.

You can't do that, it has to be 100% the same model with Nvidia so a 1070 can ONLY SLI with a 1070.

And crossfire is AMD. WIth AMD you can crossfire different cards as long as they are build with the same architecture.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

my bad, im new to al this. I'll upgrade to a 1070 not this xmas, but the xmas after that. I don't think ill need a 1070 for 180p gaming just yet

6 days? I didn't know they'd be out that soon. Won't they all be sold out within a few minutes of release?

1100 series cards, The new card 1070,1080 and so, are Pascal and in 2018 Nvidia's roadmap says that we should see Volta aka the 1100 series cards or what they will call them.

well if you can wait until start July you can get the RX 480 8gb version for 229$ with better support for DX 12 and async compute than a Nvidia card will have this gen.

Ive decided to go for the standard gigabyte 970, and when the prices drop, ill run two (or even three) of them. Thanks for your feedback guys.
