D0UI3LEA

Hi, I have 2 gtx 690s, would it be worth selling them and getting a gtx 1080?

Stick with your old ones, the 1080 isin't worth it , and x2 690 still beat the 1080 (if you got them in SLI)

I play on 3440x1440, would the extra vram help much? Also, it would be a hassle selling them since I live in Saudi Arabia, so ebay shipping will screw me up. :c

Lol yes..you are effectively running quad SLI on 2gb of vram on those things

As someone with SLI 680s (which iirc the gpu is clocked faster then it is on the 690)  I know im starting to see my limitations with my vram. I imagine you are feeling the same with the vram as well as the fact quad SLI scaling is nothing great.

Yea :/ I cant even run overwatch at max on 3440x1440 which really looks like a vram limitation rather than the card not being powerful.

Definitely worth it, a single 1080 will draw less power, produce less heat, has more VRAM and performs better.

Reads sli 690...

Cringes

The sli scaling on your setup and the measly 2gb vram will be holding you back, so it would be best to move to a more powerful single card solution. I dont doubt the raw power of 4 680's but the practicality isnt there with the amount of broken pc ports these days.

I technically run higher resolution then you when my system is at..100% usage (triple monitors 1080 displays with nvidia 3d vision) But I feel you man. The vram limitation is real. Which pisses me off cause the fucking gpu itself is still plenty strong to murc anything on the market. Even Star Citizen im running on ultra or whatever. But the Vram is just not there. I wish I could swap vram modules in the thing cause it would still be kicking ass if I could.

Don't blame! I got both cards really cheap since I traded them with virtual coins with someone I know who moved to console since he only plays Fifa. I was gonna get a 680 only, but I couldn't resist the offer.

I was really hyped about dx12 and the vram stacking, but I was greatly disappointed.

I still am excited for it but dx12 is to much in its infancy, and even then wide dx12 adoption is far away.

I know I will be getting a 1070 at the end of the month.

If only the scaling was good... and 2 gb of Vram.

not at all. 2 690's is effectively 4-way sli with 2gb of vram. there is a reason for 3- and 4-way sli to be locked with the new generation!

Is ANYTHING good with x4 scaling that isnt a benchmark? Cause I haven't heard of anything that is.

Anything that is left to the developers to implement, will never be implemented... Their efforts can be seen by the quality of recent ports, so we will have to wait till dx12 becomes unanimous before seeing these features in games...
