My first gaming pc build.

Hello there kind people of the linustechtip forum! I'm gonna build my very own gaming pc on a budget of €1000. I have no experience in doing this myself and I was hoping to get some kind and informative criticism. I am from holland so I will provide the prices my build will cost me in the list. I'm also providing my reasoning on why I chose the items on the list.

Case: Aerocool BattleHawk - €50

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33083/aerocool-battlehawk-mid-tower-case-white

This case goes really well with my motherboard poster below. I'm really going for the black and white theme with all of my gear, so I think this case goes well with it and it is pretty cheap. The only problem people seem to have with it is that the power button sticks sometimes. But for this price I'm willing to take my chances.

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait gaming r6 - €160

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130915

I chose this cause it appears to be quite "future proof" to me. It supports SLI for when I wanna buy an additional graphics card, It can overcloak all the things and it also looks really cool in my opinion.

Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 - €200

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117563

A very decent processor for an even more decent price. Does really well in benchmarks and the processors that only do slightly better than this one are at least €40 more expensive.

Power Supply: Cooler Master G750M - €90

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=Cooler+Master+G750M&N=-1&isNodeId=1

Reviews about this product are mostly very positive. It's not too expensive for what it delivers. I trust the brand not to blow up and destroy my build. The wattage is a bit overkill for me currently but I made sure it was enough for when i want to expand in the future.

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR4-2400 - €35

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104679&cm_re=Kingston_HyperX_8_GB_DDR4-2400-_-20-104-679-_-Product

The black heatsink goes really well with the overall astatic of the build. Nothing much to see here.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 - €50

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840&cm_re=Seagate_Barracuda_1TB-_-22-148-840-_-Product

A value hard disk. 1TB is plenty for me.

Graphics card: GTX 1070 - €400??

I'm most likely getting this card if the price to performance ration is good. I simply don't have enough money to buy a 1080.

Total cost (excluding Graphics card) = €485

This is the build i've come up with. Do you guys like it? Anything you would change? Anything that isn't compatible?

Let me know, guys! I'm very interested in your comments/opinions!

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I tried but had trouble finding all of these components on there. That's why I provided all of these links to american sites for reference.

You should get an OC'able CPU with Z170.

Main gaming pc: Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh Performance - Ryzen 5 5600X - MSI GTX1080Ti Armor - AMD Wraith Spire RGB - ASUS TUF Gaming B550 Plus - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz - 500GB M.2 (and a few other drives)

Gaming laptop: ASUS GL552VW: i7 6700HQ - GTX960M 2GB - 8GB DDR4 2166Mhz RAM - 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Ok i would go with a K series CPU because you cant overclock non K or X series CPUs, otherwise get a B150 or H170 motherboard with SLI support, the PSU is a bit overkill and i would recomend the EVEGA SuperNova 650 G2, its a really good modular 650W 80+ gold PSU for a resonable price and that will suit your system and needs great, even with 2 GPUs if you upgrade later. I would also recomend getting a SSD at about 250GB for your OS and some games or stuff you need, saves greatly on boot times and such

This will definitely be a very nice looking build, but I have 2 suggestions.

You chose a locked cpu but a motherboard that allows for overclocking. I know you are going for a certain color scheme, which would explain this chose, but getting the i5-6600k would allow you to overclock and and make the motherboard chose more practical.

Also I would suggest getting 16gb of ram

Getting an overclockable cpu would be really nice. But i don't think the price that would come with it is worth it. the i5-6600K is about €60 more expensive and the gains are minimal. I got this motherboard so that i have the option to OC in the future if i ever decide to do so. Thanks for your reply though! :)

Thanks for your comment! I personally don't think the €60 i would have to pay more for that cpu is worth it. since the overall improvement for gaming would be very minimal. I chose this motherboard also for the ability to OC in the future. maybe in a year or 2/3 when i want to upgrade the cpu i'll get an overclockable one.

And I will probably just buy another stick of ram next year or when I start running into trouble.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my build.

I mostly chose this motherboard to be able to OC in the future if i wanted to.

I chose this PSU cause it gives me a lot of room to expand. (Besides going for an SLI config. I can go crazy with LED strips and fans ect.) But I will have a look into the PSU that you suggested non the less.

And I'll probably get an SSD next year when i have more money. (my budget is pretty tight this summer)

EDIT: the SuperNova 650 G2 PSU is more expensive in holland the the one I got in my list. It's about €120.

ok awesome, just keep in mind that when you get the SSD you will have to do a new install of Windows on it so you can have it as your boot drive :)
