I am looking to upgrade my graphics, CPU, Mobo and ram for 500€ I cant decide between 1155 or 1150 cpu's. I will probably be getting a 980ti (as they will be cheap) or a 1070. I was looking at an i5 4690.

That's what I said, and got myself i7 4790 non K version.

I'm still sad about that decision.

If you can, get K version anyway. After 2 years you might be in need of additional power and you can just ramp clocks a bit :) 

You don't want to OC it now, but maybe some day you will. And when you will be buying new CPU after few years, it will sell much better if you have K version.

shame did it with my cpu could easilly get 4.5 GHZ

exactly as simon and kelvin said also having the opportunity to overclock your cpu is considered future proofing especially of you're on gaming because games don't really evolve it's CPU needs as much as the GPU needs ,but it will happen eventually

In most games there is really no difference between an overclocked i5, and a locked one, and the only real future proofing would be that the unlocked cpu would have a greater resell value in the future, as well as the z170 motherboard, but it comes at a premium.
