Coming "soon" - 670$ for anything decent from the looks of it. Most seem to have single 8-pins (cheaper ones) so power-starved. Overall, could be better

more like 900$. xD

I don't think it is worth the money at all in any way and it has let's just say some few problems so yeah, if you can wait for AMD to launch something do it.

around July for the 480/480x maybe a little later. The higher end one's maybe sometime in the 4th quarter.

the 480x is leaked to about the fury in performance for little money and nobody has said polaris is going to be high end. Polaris is meant to bring high performance to a more budget friendly price and if you can get a card with fury performance for the same price as a 380x I will say they are doing a god damn good job.

I guess that is one way to respond to Nvidia's new hardware especially if they turn out to be that powerful. I guess from a business stand point that would make sense to build up the "average" computers. I guess we will have to wait and see. Thanks for the article!

The keyword there is leaked. You have to be careful with all these leaked sources. You could easily be tricked, some random person could claim to have gotten the 480x early or is an engineer at AMD, and did a benchmark with the card and the problem is now, we rarely question it. We just believe everything we hear. We shouldn't expect much just because of that interview. Its something coming directly from AMD and we can trust AMD themselves.

Exactly, AMD can dominate the low end-mid gaming department for people on budgets and Nvidia can dominate the "Top premium tier of Gaming GPU's" Aka 1080/1080Ti (Not including the 1070 because that seems like its gonna be another flop)

Well it can not be worse than the shit Nvidia pulled with the 1080, that card is pretty much a joke compared to everything they said it should be. Just to be clear it is Vega that is going to be high end cards and if you follow the tech world AMD has said they will push the launch of Vega forward so it will launch earlier.

But still, wouldn't it be more Q4 2016? because it was set to release in Q1 2017, and buying polaris would just be a stupid idea then, you can wait 4 more months and have higher end GPU's. They seem to be following an Intel pattern here, a tick tock cycle, Polaris Tick, Vega Tock, Navi Tick, then whatevers next Tock.

And if you think about it, the 200 series was a tick and 300 (rebrand) tock. (just without the 2 year pattern, more like 9 month cycle)

they said about 6 months forward. No you see polaris is mid and low and the high end is Vega, so they start with releasing the more budget friendly cards and then they release the high end ones.

The Tick-Tock method has never been used by AMD - all their GPUs (Tera Scale, GCN and before) have been in 3-4 iterations. What you are thinking about is Intel.

No, no, Look at the cycle, their doing minor improvements, ex) 200 to 300 series, there were only small architectural improvements that gave it about 10% more conformance, they're doing a cycle almost exactly similar to it, Polaris is the new architecture aka Intel's Skylake if you will, then Vega is the tock, or intels Kaby Lake, working on smaller improvements like memory and power improvements. See what I'm saying? Its very similar to Intel's old cycle.  \

You're wrong. The 300 series was part refresh (390 has Delta compression, 290 doesn't, 390 has a new VRM system allowing for higher clockspeed than the 290 and etc) and part new (Fiji was entirely new and featured some milestones such as HBM. The 400 series is split in 2 major series - both new architectures. Polaris - the mid-range options and Vega - the high end - Vega is not a tick nor tock - it's a 2nd architecture being released shortly after.

Polaris= mid range, Vega= High end. So you see it is far from a tick tock thing. Also the tick tack thingy is mainly for things that are going to replace each other and Vega is not replacing Polaris. You should more think of it as Nvidia releasing their cards just not in the same order.

das weird.. owo

But why develop two different architectures when you could just develop one more powerful architecture instead of wasting it developing two separate
