Controller with analog sticks

I would like to get a peripheral that has analog controls for use with flight sims and racing games on my PC. I don't have any particular games in mind, but I enjoyed playing GT3 on PS2, and some older flight sims on PC, so I would like a controller to use for more modern ones.

I know the optimal thing would be a wheel for racing and a joystick for flight, but I don't have that kind of space, or money. So, I figure a good controller with analog sticks should fit the bill.

I think the choices are mainly between XBox 360 Wired Controller or Logitech F310.

I have a PS2, with controller, which I suppose would work if I could get an adapter, but I REALLY don't want to spend too much time fiddling. I want it to just work, maybe up to doing a bit of keybinding.

Does anybody have experience with these options?

XBox Controller

Logitech F310

Other

In case it matters:

i5 2500K - stock speed | Radeon HD 6870 | 8 GB RAM | Windows 7

A Logitech Extreme 3D pro is about $25 or so USD and it's a good stick. Just get the xbox controller though, Microsoft brand not a 3rd party because the MS ones are built like brick sh*thouses plus it's plug an play no software needed. You could probably kill someone with one.

I bought one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0PG0BV4122

It's plug and play, drivers are automatically installed by windows. I use it with PSX2 and it works as it would on a console for me.

That would certainly be the cheapest option. I may just go with it for that reason. Then if it fails, go with one of the others.

I thought the same, at only 7$ if it sucks and barely works then not much of a loss anyway but so far it seems to be working perfectly.

That stick looks interesting, is however 50euros (sic!) in Germany.

Also agree on the part of the 360 controller being built like a brick.

Don't get F310 unless you can get it really cheap. Its not worth retail price. It has plastic feel, connectivity issues and both sticks and triggers lack feel on them. For under $10 its ok.

I would get a Razer Sabertooth its nearly flawless in design (after they kinda screwed it up with the onza) and has great build quality. To me its just way nicer than the standard x360 controller and you can feel it the instant you have it in your hands and the first time you play your favorite game.
