Overclocking a Non K Skylake CPU

I followed this guide on how to overclock a non k cpu: http://overclocking.guide/updated-msi-z170-non-k-overclocking-guide-new-bios/

I have followed the steps and tried to reinstall the new bios but nothing seems to help. When i have done all the steps i save and exit the bios and when the system is booting up again it gets to the "press delete to enter bios screen", after that it tries to boot to the os but instead of booting it turns off and then turns on again then it boots just like normal. But the thing is that it ignores my oc settings in the bios. Instead of running at 4 ghz it runs the normal 3.30 ghz and the ram is also running at its stcok speed instead of 2566 mhz. If anyone knows how to make the oc stay please post a comment :)

I have a G4400 and a MSI Z170 PC MATE

Most likely CPU microcode is updated and the overclocking is blocked.

You are looking at the bus clock speeds right, not the clocks speeds next to the CPUs name?

Like mentioned above intel probably pushed some microcode through windows update to kill the overclock function on your non-k cpu. it doesn't pop up like normal updates I believe, and you have no way of knowing what it contains either, but MS pushes it through their update service anyway, and it happened because Intel didn't want people to overclock non-k parts.

There's always the possibility that your particular G4400 (or some other part of the system) just can't do 4Ghz.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD
