So, I am planning on buying a new cpu, i5-6600k or preferably better. But my motherboard socket is a FM2+, which won't go with that cpu. So i'll have to upgrade that as well.
But because my case is a Micro ATX, means that I have to upgrade my case as well. And since I am getting a new socket: I need a new cpu cooler?
So at this point I have to upgrade not only my CPU but also my case, motherboard and cooler, which all add up to quite a lot of money which I do not have, and I can't wait another month to save up unless I wait through all of summer as well.

All the system specs you need to know:
CPU : AMD A8-6600K
MOTHERBOARD: F2A68HM-HD2
CASE: Aerocool X-Predator Cube
CPU COOLER: 1a02c3w00
And I am not sure if this matters or not but my GPU is MSI - AMD R8-380

So what I want to know is there anything I can avoid buying, or what was is the cheapest (preferably not by downgrading my wished CPU).
And I'd also like some suggestions for the case if I absolutely HAVE to buy a new one... don't really care about the case as long as it's black and red.. (It needs to go well with my GPU for obvious reason. :| )

you dont need to upgrade your case, you could just get a M-ATX motherboard, also RAM needs upgrading if your going to go with a Skylake processor

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I currently have 8GB ram 1600hz, and it's mostly running at 46%, so i think i should be fine on that part?

Why not wait, what you have is decent. A few more months will bring about both AMD's cards and Zen for cpu, Nvidia will be off the rush so prices will be stable by then, and lastly Intel will probably drop prices a little when AMD puts out a new product. Just wait and save (for a larger budget) and see what is there later.

well the thing is that Skylake processors from Intel only take DDR3L and DDR4 RAM, not DDR3 so you have to swap that out for some DDR4 if you dont want to go with something like a 4690K and a Z97 motherboard

Alright, so i can avoid buying the case, but then i end up buying ram, which sets me at the same position as before... :L

well going with a I5 4690K isnt a big downgrade right now but i wouldent do it because you will sooner or later need to get some DDR4 anyway :P

Waiting is something i have considered, but I'd still want to save as much as possible. I guess i could ask this same question in a couple of months is what you're suggesting?
But I've already postponed my question a couple times now. So i am not sure when the best time to ask this is.

Late Oct/early Nov. Zen will be out and we will know if it is worthwhile. Or just another flop. That is not to say you would have to wait to upgrade your gpu/psu/case, AMD is launching in June so end of june to get a better gpu (either amd or nvidia) and use it till the fall, see how zen does then decide what to go with intel or amd for the new cpu/memory/mb

Sounds promising, but with overwatch coming out, and my cpu pretty much slowly burning up. (It's at 100% A LOT of the time), i don't think i'll survive that long.

I am in the same boat (i5-2600k overclocked to 3.7/gtx650ti boost) maxing my cpu/gpu on most games (Doom hitches) but when I plunk down the grand for a new build I want the most options I can get. I have been stung too often,  jumping early on something to only have something better/cheaper come about in a short amount of time if I had just waited. For me there are too many if's at this time and since my rig works (hard, very very hard) I'll wait personally.
