Ok so I like to stream on twitch and recently in the last year I've switched from console gaming to pc. When I streamed on console, I had an elgato hd60pro (the internal one) and I used it to get my gameplay to obs and such. My question is, would I see any performance increase if I used my HD60Pro to capture my pc instead of using the obs game capture? Thanks for reading!

Depends on your setup. If your computer supports hardware encoding via quicsync(on intels igpus on lga 1150,1155,1151) On nvec(on gtx 600 and never). Or amd encoder on gcn, there will be a very small performance hit. If your using cpu the capture care will be a bit faster.

you wouldn't really see a performance increase at all, you would actually be using more power from your PC than you really need to be using.

If you have an Nvidia graphics card you can just use Shadow Play. It even has the ability to live stream to twitch/youtube.

Because you have a GTX970, you can use Shadowplay to record and stream

wont make much of a differance tbh, i would just go throgh OBS tho :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I'll definitely look into shadowplay for streaming but I already use it for recording. I heard that the stream feature is very limited in customization though so I might just stick to OBS
