Hi everyone

My GPU caught fire a couple of weeks ago and has been in RMA ever since. I have send my PSU for RMA but got it back with the message that it's fine. I then tested my PC with a different GPU and this also ran fine (though I only tested it for 5-10 minutes). Can anyone tell me if there could be a problem with my motherboard? I think I will get my GPU back in a while and I really don't want to take the chance of putting it back, turning it on and see it being fried again.

If I test it with a GPU like the 730, which requires much less power, would I see the problem or could it be that it only occurs when the GPU draws a large amount of power?

Thanks :)

I think your GPU caught fire because something shorted. I think your MoBo is fine. (although get some case fans just to be sure it's not overhrating)

I have three casefans at the moment, 1 in the front and two exhausts so temps shouldn't be a problem. Also I check my temperatures regularly and they never seem off.

Read your sig to see what PSU you're running. You might actually be cutting it a bit close with 520w, but I agree with @Djole123, I don't think, with a 950, that you could be drawing to much power.

I thought that at first, but according to PCpartpicker I only use 268W so I figured it should be sufficient.

I thought maybe the motherboard gave to much power through the pcie lanes or something since apparently the PSU is OK.

Thanks for the answers :)
