higher core and mem clock: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12100695

lower core and mem clock: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/10560594

see for yourself :D

gpu drivers arent updated, cpu score slightly higher, but gpu scored lower with higher clock speed

about the fire strike version, i think the higher core and mem clock one is slightly newer, but not the newest lol

that sometimes happens when you overclocked too high. also the results are within a margin of error. you normally dont get the exact result every time.

Can't properly compare them since the drivers are different.

And they really within margin of error. It's not even a single % difference between the score. It's a fraction of a percent.

gpu drivers are the same, only the 3dmark version is different lol

and yea i know margin of error (i ran a butt ton of firestrikes with same clock speed before)

just sharing for lulz really

yeap i noticed that higher clock speed sometimes gets lower scores, though i dont know what's up with that :D

honestly i cant really explain it either. i think its similar to frame skipping when you overclock your monitor.

downloaded the latest 3dmark on steam

though i wont be running benchmarks anytime soon

have to tweak bios and make a clean environment just for benchmarks, nty lol

It could be due to not enough voltage, and the GPU isn't actually fully juiced for that overclock but it's not so terrible that it crashes.  It seems weird, and I've never seen this on a GPU, but I have seen it on a CPU where not enough voltage would effect linpack performance without causing a crash.  It's worth trying.

Try running the tests a few times on each setting and compare your averages.

yea, strix cards are limited to 1.212V, which is kinda low compared to other 970s lol

@Moonzy

You might be able to bios flash it with an overclocked bios profile and change the power limit/max voltage....

I did that with an old 750Ti and it worked great.

i read somewhere on the web that the strix cards locked it at 1.212 on the VRM, so bios probably wont help it much

though i'm not considering bios flash as it might brick the card

im happy enough as it is tbh lol

How many time did you execute these benchmarks? You are talking about a minimum difference, it could be caused by background noise.

not a whole lot of time, i will run them more when i have more free time and the mood to do it :P

as running these benchmarks require me to tweak my bios and make a clean environment for minimal impact on scores
