So I bought a 250GB 850 a couple of months ago for about $85. I figured that since all I have is a fx6200, it would speed things up a bit. Soon after I then realized that I probably would have been better off saving that $85 an putting it towards my next GPU upgrade. I could put more money towards say a 970 rather than a 960?

Right now I have an HD 6850, so i would like to upgrade to at least a 960. So far I've been offered $60 for the SSD. Would it be worth selling so I could put more money towards say a 970 rather than a 960?

Yes. It sounds like you play games more so going for a GPU rather than an SSD will be worth. Only problem is that loading games will take longer on a regular HDD.

I think you already have the SSD so you should keep it.
If you sell it you'll miss it and have to be with out it until you can but another.
Purchase the GPU when you have the money for it.

He already has it...

@DeadlyPilot I would just suggest you to keep it as:

1. You are loosing $25 which isn't bad but it's still something :P

2. You're gonna want a SSD again eventually where you would probably end up having to spend more to get one (compared to your selling price)

3. I'm sure you can wait a few extra weeks before getting that GPU upgrade as $60 is something but it's not the highest amount of money :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I guess it just bothers me that no matter how much I spend on a GPU, that $85 always could've got me an even better one. And I only plan on spending so much on my PC

i think this falls under the "no, dont be an idiot" threads.

if you *so sorely* need that $60 for your GPU upgrade, go do some jobs, i've been offered like $2K for cleaning some industrial equipment (to which i replied no purely on the principle i entered into the system that offered it to me with the note "jobs in the IT world")

Fair enough.

Well is your 6300 overclocked? Cause it's gonna bottleneck a 970 in some CPU heavy games hard if it's stock and depending on the OC, it could not bottleneck at all :D

Its not currently overclocked but its something ive been considering. How much of a performance improvement would the bottle necked 970 be over a 960?

It still be quite a bit of an improvement (around 75% (of total improvement) I would say) so yeah :D
