Gaming on a i7? Stick with a i5! Spent the money you saved on a gpu.

Hopefully enough space for a 1070/80 when they come out. If he cannot wait at all; http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/YG4LCJ

@UnjoGratis hmmm didn't you have a different username?

Regardless, what resolution is your friend playing at?

I question the reliability of the SSDs that the others are including.

@UnjoGratis

This still leaves about CA$475.47 for a GPU, you might be able to get a cheaper mobo to make more room for GPU space but if your friend is just gaming at 1440p or below the GTX 1070 or R9 480X will be plenty...

If you're not waiting until those cards are out, then I think the R9 380X or R9 390 are fine options, though people seem to like to recommend at least 650W PSUs for the R9 390 and above sometimes even for the R9 380X...

That's what I thought... Kinda an odd username. Some might consider it unsavoury... To which I don't think I'd disagree.

Anyways, this is what I think would be a better option. As the 6500 is good if you're not going to overclock. It leaves more money in the budget for the GPU, also I'm not sure of the reliability the A-Data SSD. I mean for all I know the A-Data SSD that @TheRandomness put in their suggestion is more reliable than the Trion 150. I just know that the Trion 150 is much better than the Trion 100. It's also got a better good bang for the buck though I don't think that A-Data SSD was much cheaper...

Poor Canada having an economy that relied on the value of oil being high.

Just as a bit of a clarification, the NZXT Source 210 Elite the only real difference from what I could tell is that it had a USB3.0 port on the front of the case. Otherwise there was technically no real difference between the elite and non elite case. So you could probably save a little bit by going with the non Elite variant.

I just added a clarification about the case. Because there's a small difference between it and the non elite variant. Otherwise, yeah...
