Should I wait for 1080 or go 1070 early.

Sebbydo

Hey I'm building a new rig shortly after the 1070 launch date. It will have 16gb ram, 6600k, 240mm AIO cooler, 850 watt psu and fatality performance mobo. And not sure to get a 1070 strait away or save up for a few weeks and get a 1080. Pls help my budget atm only will fit a 1070 at launch but I can put my currant gpu(770) in there until I get a new one.

If it turns out anything like the 900 series, only the 1070 and 1080 Ti will really be worth it.

980's price/perf is shit.

Huh... then do the following:

  1. Put your 770 for sale right now. Be relaxed with the price and make it a really good deal, so that people will actually want to buy it.
  2. Put a 500w PSU instead of an overkill 850w one.
  3. =enough money to get a 1080 instead of a 1070.

If you still don't think that's enough, downgrade those 16gb to a single 8gb stick (which you can get a second copy of later down the road).

I might sell the whole pc. That should fund the 1080. I think and I don't realy want to down grade from 16 gigs because I am buying it with a friend and spliting it.( he does heaps of video editing so it benefits him as well.

I would say if you're running low or have a small budget, then get the 1070, It should be good enough but wait till there's 3rd party reviews such as people who is not company-related or just normal youtubers who want to write a review about it.
