1080p build. Thoughts ?

Go to solution Solved by Lotus,

You spend way, WAY too much on the motherboard, and that PSU is not worthy of the other parts. I'd get this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($244.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($24.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-E ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($88.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill NT Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($31.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card  ($287.10 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($61.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $726.93
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I need advice. Is this a good build for 1080p gaming? And for future games.

Bugdet: 700$

GPU: Gtx 780 (I got it cheap for 150$)

CPU: i5-4690k (220$)

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero (240$)

RAM: 16 gb Kingston HyperX Fury (60$)

PSU: Corsair CX 600w (I already have it from a previous build)

I also have a case and harddrive.

Can you recommend anything else? Or is this fine.

Thanks.

The mobo might be overkill, but that's a matter of opinion on my part. There are much more affordable Z97 boards out there that would do you about as well.

The PSU has got to go. CX series PSUs have some serious performance issues. If you like Corsair PSUs, the RM650 and RM650i are both great, but they come at a premium. EVGA, XFX and Seasonic PSUs are solid choices as well.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I would go with @Lotus 's build.

Ive had that PSU for over 15 months now. U should NOT get such an expensive mobo when u building a budget build. Get Asus Z97-A or something in that price range. U can change PSU for EVGA or Seasonic S12II

He already has that 780, so suggesting other GPU makes no sense.
