so i am building a computer for a friend who knows nothing about computers (i dont know much) but before we go buy his parts i want to make sure what i have picked is all good. just looking to see if there is anything that should be replaced here. he wants to spend around 1500 which is what this came to but if he needs to spend more he can. thanks!

Perfect. I would try to stuff an SSD into there though. Also, the PSU is overkill.

Just make sure he likes the case I would stick with the PSU so he can throw another GPU in there if he wants to. And like TheSLSAMG said get an SSD even if it is just for the OS. Make the computer feel 2x a fast. Also disk drive if you need one. I just use a USB to install my OS.

It's already a grrrrrrrrrrrreat build but an ssd would make it even better and if you can wait a few days the price on that 7970 is expected to drop nice and low so you'll be able to squeeze that ssd in there.

You wouldn't need a 750W psu unless you are planning to crossfire in the future. I would recommend the XFX XXX 650W as your psu instead. I would also change the HDD to a Seagate Barracuda because it is cheaper and runs cooler. Make sure that you won't be getting a large air cooler as that ram would interfere with it.
