Upgrade to Windows 10

Hello everyone.

According to Microsoft, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free until the 29th of July. I am currently running Windows 7.

What are your opinions about the new OS? Is it worth it? Am I also gonna see an increase in performance when it comes down to gaming?
These are the specs of the PC that I'm using:

AMD Athlon X4 860K overclocked to 4.00 GHz
8GB RAM

GTX 750 Ti

personally, I've only seen speed increases on windows 10. There are some quirks but overall I like it much better than any other version of windows.

I am runing W10 since it released and I have no issues. It runs better than my W7 and W8.1 did before and I didnt run into any compatibility issues with any programs or games I use.

You will have much better boot times. As for gaming performance there isn't much differenc. It is a solid OS to work with.

You will see 

 

1. Faster Boot times

2. 2-5 FPS increase in some games

3. Some persistent bugs (especially with audio drivers) 

4. increased disk usage (peaks at random intervals) but frequency is lesser now. 

5. Overall lightweight OS. 

 

Overall, id recommend it as its not a bad OS for the price tag of "free" .

I'm running Windows 10 and I'm super unhappy. Takes a lot to boot, old drivers don't work, and it's overall very sluggish.

 

But your computer should be fine.

I feel like it is an improvement. Atleast from win 8 (that doesnt require a lot ). Boot times are a lot faster, while I know a few cases where someone has had some problems it is worth upgrading IMO. I didnt see a whole lot of improvements in games but we will see what DX12 brings with it. overall its very good, the virtual desktop feature can be useful sometimes and well its just good . Every program that i used before works with it and no issues so far.
