Hi guys im looking to run a couple led strips using and arduino controller but am confused on what ones i should get there are so many different types of arduinos.

I was looking for wifi capability and also wanted to know of any possible hook ups i would need for the led to arduino.

Thanks again guys :D

Get a proper one.

Arduino Uno is your best bet. Stay away from the Wan Hang Lo ones, since they're known to fail (Dave Jones or AvE have a few videos showcasing Arduino clones failing)

Yeah, an UNO would probably be your best bet. As far as WiFi capabilities go, you can just use an ESP8266 wifi module. These are really cheap ($5), and there are lots of guides on how to use them (since it is a very popular module).

Oh, and as far as you LED strip plans go, I would recommend some addressable RGB ledstrips, if you want to individually control every single led.

the esp8266 has two GPIO pins that you can probably use to implement SPI - if you dont have the ''know how', it's very likely that someone on the internet has already done this so get looking! it's possible! This also completely removes the need for your arduino

I think he may need an independent microcontroller, since he also want's to control the LED's using music and some other things.

AvE is dope. If you're referencing the arduino that he got sent, and it blew up on him, he made a video later using one of the same models, and he said that it seemed he just got a dud.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of the whole teensy thing. They are generally smaller, and have as much, if not more IO, in my experience.

Get an uno to start with. It's great for tinkering and learning the platform. Once you get the hang of it, and you want something you can permanently embed in a project, just get a pro mini or a nano. The pro mini is a bit more hassle because you need a separate device to program it(you can use an uno for this) but it's also cheaper and a bit smaller.
