Hey again guys! To the moderators, sorry if im in the wrong place but i feel that this is a price plan for my new build. So down to business. I know that the free upgrade to 10 for windows 7 and 8 users lasts until July 29. However if i buy 7 or 8 cheap today and install it, would i still be able to get this free update? Ps i know there are a lot of windows updates to go through, however i am a patient man so this wont bother me!

Thanks for the reply bro, but in only ordering my PC parts today! Itll be at least 2 weeks before i can build it depending on shipping, however, that still leaves me with a month before July 29!

And dont do any of the optional updates, as none of them are required for the upgrade, will shave some time off too

you can just install windows 10 directly and use those keys

as long as it's before 29th of july

you dont have to update from windows 7/8, just install windows 10 directly

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I have an old pentium laptop, would that work? xD

as long as it has usb ports and can access the internet, i dont see why not

steps:

1) visit here https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

2) download the media creation tool (Download tool now) button

3) run it and plug in a usb stick larger than (8gb iirc 16gb to be safe)

4) select "create a usb bootable device" or something along those lines

5) wait till it's done

6) install windows using that usb stick like how you would install any windows on your new computer

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Get at least a 4GB USB stick. Using some other computer, download the tool here (the lower button with 'Download Tool Now').

Create the USB stick with the software and plug it in to your new computer.

Power up, pick to boot from the USB, g though the install like any other.

Once prompted for CD-key, enter the one you got for Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

(Win 8 might work too, but officially it's 7 or 8.1. I haven't been able to confirm either/or)
