Is it safe and does it reduce the lifespan of your GPU? Btw I'm working with people with R7 200 series GPUs

Any form of overclocking reduces the lifespan of the processor (usually increasing voltage). However if you keep the card adequately cooled the reduced life span will probably still last the entirety of the ownership up until you upgrade to something new. I overclocked my pair of Radeon HD 7970's to their max in MSI Afterburner and ran them like that for years. They still work fine. So I say overclock away so long as it's stable and not overheating.

Also use afterburner to overclock, don't use Crimson (no voltage control).

Lifespan is more proportional to overvoltage mostly (And of course temps and such as Windows7ge mentioned), yet there's still other factors that come into play as well. One of them is the length of time they're at max voltage. If you've overvolted quite a bit, and it's under constant stress, then of course it won't last as long as a similarly overclocked GPU which tends to sit idling most of the time. TL;DR: No, not really, unless it's really overvolted and under an unreasonable amount of thermal stress.
