Shutdown windows 8

Go to solution Solved by Joveice,

Ended up doing the sticky key hack, and this worked.

Hi, I'm unable to shutdown this windows 8 laptop compleatly without hibrating. I'm not able to sign in to do the shutdown from there, which is the reason I'm trying to get it compleatly off. (Locked out and trying to boot from a usb which tells me it cannot do anything as long as it's hibrnating)

Laptop has a integrated battery so it's not removable.

Please help

If you hold down the power button it shuts off completely. What you could also do is go to Control Panel > Power settings or something and somewhere in there there should be the settings for what Windows should do with shutdowns (like you could set it to sleep/hibernate/shut off when not plugged in and the same options when the laptop is plugged in)

that way the shut down button actually shuts down the laptop

Repeatedly pressing the power button often initiates a proper shutdown, unlike holding the power button which merely turns the computer off.

I'm not able to sign in. And when holding it down I can hear the HDD stop, tho when I start the computer again it only takes a few secounds for it to be at the login screen, and if i boot to a usb before that it says it's hibrnating.

This also dident work, tho this time the power light is breathing.

Any other suggestions?

(the Shutdown key at the login screen also sets the computer to hibernating)
