ok, i just seen the new Corsair Obsidian 750D just came out and it has a magnetic top grill........ @coen113 , @ofr057

WAAAAY to weak to even matter. you could cover your pc with fridge magnets and it wouldn't do anything, you would need something powerful like a rare-earth magnet or something similarly powerful.

Yeah, only time I've seen magnets harm a PC was when I saw some guys roll a 20kg neodymium magnet past one, and in that scenario the magnet was powerful enough to drag the PC over to it. Needless to say, that's a pretty extreme scenario xD

I don't think magnets are bad for your pc:

- a normal hdd has some powerful neodymium magnets.

- corsairs h100i uses magnets to hold the mounting bracket

but for cd/dvd magnets can be harmful according to my knowledge.

Hi MrRX7,

Your hard drive will no doubt contain small neodymium magnets which are essential for making it work. Therefore accessories that use fairly weak magnets will be fine. However, it is possible to corrupt or wipe a hard drive with a big and powerful rare-earth magnet but the magnet would have to be substantial and really strong, something like a large N52 neodymium magnet.

If you want to find our more about neodymium magnets and their uses, there is loads of information on our tech centre.

Thanks.
