Ok so if it was higher, the 860 wouldn't be enough I take it?

And just given the current hypothetical specs of 180W, what do you think?

850W is enough. If 850W can run two 980tis (which take more than the 1080 according to Nvidia) then 850W is more than fine for two cards that take less.

Hi all, quick question! Will a Corsair AX860i support a 5930k OC'd and two GTX1080's OC'd in SLI? I've done the online calculator and it seems like it will be close. I will also have a custom liquid cooling loop. This is my first build on something this scale and I'm just unsure on how much the overclocks will affect my needed power.

I know the stock TDP for the 5930k is 140W and each GTX1080 is180W

Here are the full system specs: (It's a little overkill and I know some parts aren't necessary i.e. the amount of RAM)

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage V Extreme

Intel i7 5930k (O.C.)

2x Nvidia GTX1080 (O.C)

4x SSD's in RAID 10

1x M.2 SSD

64GB DDR4 Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM

8x fans

Full liquid cooling loop

LED strips and Blu-Ray drive

I think you should take the 180w with a grain of salt, wait until actual benchmarks come out for the 1080's

Do you expect it to be higher or lower?

I was originally going to use an AX1200i but realized it was too large to fit my third radiator at the bottom of my case (Corsair 750D), so I'm having to downsize

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Wow 850 is suitable for two 980ti's? Well that pretty much sums it up then

Awesome! Thank you, so I'll just wait and see what the benchmarks say like Aytex mentioned to make sure that the TDP will rest at 180.

TDP != power consumption so I'd basically disregard that.

Yeah I was a little curious on that because I know that's what TDP is and Nvidia has now listed it as 180W on the specs on their website and I doubt they would release the card with something different. They're known to stick to specs once they're officially reveal them to the public.
