So in the past few months I've been starting to mess around with Windows Server 2012 Data Center Edition and I've slowly wanted to start using more and more of its features which was starting to require more beefy hardware than the Q6600, and 4GB's of RAM, and 3.2TB's of storage I started out with and so I upgraded to a Intel Core i3-2100 and 16GB's of DDR3 but yet again found that to not be enough and so I went out and bought a bunch of server grade stuff and that's where I am now.

In this build currently resides two Intel Xeon X5550's at 2.66GHz along with 16GB's of RAM (64GB's of ECC is on the way) and 3.2TB's of storage with plans to move the OS to an SSD and the data storage to four 4TB HDD's. It currently has a Tyan S7012 motherboard and an EVGA 600W PSU (upgrading to redundant PSU's soon), as well as an unbranded 4U server chassis.

I want to know what you guys want me to benchmark, as well as any ideas you guys have for uses for my server. It currently works for the following purposes, DNS, DHCP, AD DS, PLEX, and Hyper-V as well as a NAS. I'm look to upgraded to two low power six core xeons soon as well and I'll be selling them to my older brother along with the chassis as I'm not a huge fan of this one due to the orientation of the hard drives, as well as the general design.

Any questions? Let me know :)

Oh, I'm also picking up a rack soon and hopefully a smart managed switch so I can team the four Ethernet ports together for a theoretical 4GB/s.

Are you going to overclock them? They have locked multipliers, but come from before Intel tied the BSCK to other stuff you if you have good cooling you can really crank the speed up. I have seen some people get an extra GHz out if the X5550.

I'm not gonna bother until I get a beefier cooling solution as I currently have 1U coolers with fans on these.
